I read a Roman Proverb that states: “You can drive out nature with a pitchfork, but she keeps on coming back, Meaning the inbred character of a man will come to the surface, despite all his or her efforts to change. Just like weeds and other plants they will always reappear despite all our attempts to eradicate them. The same is true concerning our trying to eliminate our sin in our own power, it just can’t be done. I’m sure that if there was a way to wipe away what we inherited from Adam and Eve we would have done it a long time ago, thereby saving Jesus the agony of having to die on the cross for you and me. But the truth is we couldn’t stop ourselves from sinning, it is in our nature, our D.N.A. if you will. Although now that we’re born again we have a new D.N.A. that Divine Nature Activated the day we received Christ as our Lord and Savior.
