Silicon Valley based photographer Shiva Sharifi is addressing a much neglected segment of photography education with her workshops. Not only does she teach technique, and coach photographers on PROPER ways to communicate and successfully interact with models. Her workshops are driven towards cultivating a vision to capture and providing you with the building blocks towards creating your own successful projects. Being a former model, and also being trained in marketing techniques, Shiva is uniquely qualified to talk the talk — whilst walking the walk.
In her own words...
I wanted to be a photographer ever since I was a young child sitting cross legged on the floor pinned to the amazing images on my TV screen produced by such wildlife shows as “Nature” and “National Geographic” on the local PBS station. I was so eager holding my first film camera when I was 18 years old, snapping pictures and trying out different things. I transitioned into digital around 2003, which was about the same time as most others. Since then I have developed my style, cultivated a career and watched some interesting transitions in the industry over the last two decades.

The last 18 years has been a very long and arduous discovery into my photography art and path. Over the years I have developed strong skill sets based within the model photography genre. I also produce work in other fields of photography to diversify my eye and pursue other passions, whether just for the love of it or to provide amazing content results for my clients.

My current path with photography is primarily geared towards two things at this time. One, to encourage and coach those that are just finding their vision within this industry and helping their talents to blossom. Two, I am working to refocus my own personal projects with a new voice in fine art photography with a sort of blend of photojournalism. We will just have to see where these ideas take me and what types of adventures or partnerships will be discovered from this intention. Thank you for your interest in my work.
