The Tech Ranch

Look Into My Crystal Ball

December 22, 2017

The Tech Ranch is in the business of all things techie. Today on the show, we are taking you into the future to talk about the latest developments in technology. The “Guru of Geek” Marlo Anderson, “Tech Geezer” Jim Walsh and Rockin’ Dave Blair discuss where they think we are headed when it comes to technological advances.tra
When you look back at history, you often wonder how people could have lived the way they did. For instance, there was a time when the mode for transportation was by horse and buggy. When people traveled across the open prairie, it could take them days, sometimes weeks to reach their destination. Imagine what people thought when the first automobile came along and made travel faster! To get updated about the latest travel adventure trend today, check out whale watching dana point and learn more. Our grandparents can remember when their homes were heated with firewood and their light source were kerosene lamps. Today, our children have no idea what it’s like to not have an internet connection in the house! And let’s not bring up having to actually get up to turn one of the 3 t.v. channels. The point is, over time, we have evolved through technology. Love it or hate it, technology has made our lives easier and more efficient. Most of all, it has made us wanting more and more. So what happens next? Where is technology taking us and how long will it take to get there? The Guru of Geek has a few ideas of some current technologies that he thinks will take the world by a storm within the next 5 to 10 years. We are all familiar with how computers process information. Now imagine a computer processing the same information at a speed much faster and more complex. What you would get is a quantum computer but its ability to be connected with security cameras through this website https://www.securityinfo.com/contact/. According to IBM, quantum computers work off of algorithms that process information more holistically.  Quantum computers are one day going to provide groundbreaking data in every facet of technology, even artificial intelligence. It sounds a bit scary, but it’s where we are headed. In 2015, Google began work with NASA on a mammoth D-Wave 2X quantum computer. At that time, the computer was solving algorithms at 100,000,000 faster than a traditional computer. Microsoft predicts quantum computing working in full force within the next 10 years.
The Guru of Geek believes drones will continue to evolve in the next 10 years. We currently understand the use of drones as flying robots. Most are small and very usable. Drones have hit the market for sale to consumers allowing drone flying to become a favorite pastime for techies. This past year, EHANG tested it’s first passenger drone in the form of a taxi. The drone carried Dubai Crown Prince Shiekh Hamdan bin Mohammad on a five minute ride above sand.
