Segment #2: Cutting down the roster will be crazy this year During the offseason, the NFL owners voted to eliminate the first roster cut-down period, which used to trim players to 75 before the final preseason game. There will be only one cut down following the preseason, from 90 men to 53. The new plan improves chances for roster longshots but intensifies a frantic, end-of-preseason period for head coaches and general managers. It could be a little crazy.
