Steve Aukstakalnis (Awk-sta-call-niss) Author of Silicon Mirage and Practical Augmented Reality 

Steve is a research scientist, lecturer and the author of three books in the field of virtual and augmented reality. He has spent over two decades working with academia, government and industry in the application of immersive display technologies in such varied fields as architecture, national defense and medicine. 

Steve is an invited lecturer and researcher for the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, Nat'l Reconnaissance Office, University of Michigan, Pepperdine, Purdue, Nat'l Taiwan University, the Smithsonian Inst. and a host of other universities, corporations and government agencies across N. America and around the world. 

Steve has authored three books on the topic of virtual and augmented reality, as well as dozens of papers, magazine articles and technology reviews. His second book, Silicon Mirage, was published in 6 languages and adopted as a text in schools across the U.S., Europe and Asia.  Steve's third book, Practical Augmented Reality: A Guide to the Technologies, Applications, and Human Factors for AR and VR, was published in September, 2016 by Pearson - Addison Wesley Professional.
