* Marketiers and 4DC have [released the first part of a report into podcasting and the UAE](https://www.zawya.com/mena/en/press-releases/story/Study_reveals_there_are_13mln_regular_podcast_listeners_in_the_UAE-ZAWYA20190730085719/). 16% of the adult population of the United Arab Emirates are weekly podcast listeners, the data suggests. * Podcast app [Castbox has launched Livecast](https://podnews.net/press-release/castbox-livecast), a free audio streaming service that lets podcasters go live with the tap of a button. Podnews went live on this service a month or so ago, and it worked well as a method of hearing from listeners.

Revenue is up 31% year-on-year. Of note from the report:

* Data: Nielsen reports that [podcasting is growing in Canada](https://www.nielsen.com/ca/en/insights/article/2019/as-media-options-increase-radio-and-podcasts-are-go-to-music-sources-for-consumers-in-canada/), with 33% of Canadians saying they're listening to more podcast content than they did a year ago. "39% of teens say they spend less time listening to music because of their podcast consumption".
