Idaho Hispanic Youth Symposium 2019 Keynote Speech – OHS 116

August 06, 2019

Delivering a keynote speech at the 2019 Idaho Hispanic Youth Symposium (HYS) on the Boise State University campus in Boise, Idaho was an absolute privilege. For over two decades, Idaho Hispanic Youth Symposium has served as a passionate forum for the educational advancement of traditionally under-represented Latino Students. HYS gives young Hispanic/Latino High School students from around the Pacific Northwest an opportunity to network with universities. And what is more important is it allows universities to give out scholarships to these students who made the decision and commitment to attend. All in all, the universities gave out over one million dollars in scholarships to support these young people. I have known many people who have come up and benefited from being apart of the Idaho Hispanic Youth Symposium. What I think is a blessing is that many of the current HYS staff are HYS alumni. It make such a difference to the attendees to see Hispanics and Latinos who came out of HYS not only doing well, but giving back. This symposium has such a fantastic grass roots and supportive feel. I can only say it was so special to be a part of making a difference in the lives of young Hispanics and Latinos in America. This podcast is the speech I delivered.

Thanks for listening! I invite you to share this podcast, offer a comment or leave some feedback.
