Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works Contd.

April 27, 2015

A roundup talk on episode 5 to 15.

This post has been a long time coming. Apologies for the big gap between the previous run to the continuation but most of you already know that things got delayed due to moving and of course my extra graphical responsibilities on Metanorn. There were many nights spent on the Spring Review but anyhow, I’m back with the continuation of Unlimited Blade Works and I have many goodies, with sometime cracked audio… Who cares though, it’s all good now as I can finally cover my loveable UBW. =w=

Miles apart but still a bunch of bakas!

Roundup Topics:

  • Dream of a Hero: Borrowed Ideals from Kiritsugu, the Seigi no Mikata background of Shiro following his father’s footsteps
  • Alliance with Rin: Their development and relationship
  • First to go: Hello and Goodbye Rider
  • Archer’s Ambiguity: His two faces and enmity, mostly towards Shiro
  • Game Changer: Caster’s Rule Breaker – Saber’s unwilling and Archer’s willing acceptance
  • Flashbacks: Caster and even some vague concept of Archer
  • Beauty and the Beast: Illya and Berserker’s touching story. No allusions to this, classy ufotable.
  • Favourite moments t0-date. What are yours?

Extra Blade Works!

Rin is the best girl!

Let’s not kid ourselves, we watch UBW for GARcher…

It seems that Shiro took Papa Kiri-tugu’s words too seriously and I quote from the VN, “If I can, I’d prefer nobody to be sad. If I can make people around me happy just by helping them myself, I think that would make the world a pleasant place to live in.” This is basically the gist of Shiro’s life, however much he seems annoying, he is a hero and typecasted to his bone. Pun intended. I know we would prefer Rin as the heroine but them double-teaming is the best you can get in the Fate work.

Anyways, I’m glad I caught up and expect regular posts from now on. This series is going well with the excellent quality of ufotable; however, I have problems with the current pacing. Actually, since episode 11, things have slowed down and though I know exposition is important (heck, Nasu spent quite a long bit writing scenarios and servant class details in the loooong VN), things could have been better. I understand, two cours are tough and there is a huge expectation (death stares of TM fans to boot), riding on this one. I just we could get something similar to the first few episodes of season one. I guess, things will get better with time as pacing should pick up with a lot of shenanigans still left.

Like I said, I want to know the general feedback of TM fans and first time watchers alike on second season. So, comment away.
