Shirts v. Skins: A Sports Show (NFL Preview/Simone Biles and Michael Phelps)

August 14, 2016

Simone and Michael. 'Nuf said? The former is the new gymnastics Sweetheart, and the latter may not only be the best swimmer ever, but possibly the greatest athlete ever. And I haven't even mentioned Katie Ledecky yet (3 Gold 1 Silver)! Also, we still gotTrack and Field to come! Good times for the ol' US of A.

In continuing with our NFL Preview, this week Dom and I look at the NFC South. What looks to be a weak division could surprise a lot of people if the dominos fall right. Obviously, the Panthers are the defending division champs, and the team to beat, but the Saints improved their O-line, and jettisoned Rob Ryan, so one of the worst defenses in NFL history looks to be improved just from that move in itself.

The Falcons and Bucs need a lot to go right to be in the mix for a wild-card spot, but the Falcons upgraded at WR with Sanu, and Alex Mack at center upgrades one of the most important positions on the field. If Dan Quinn can instill some of his defensive genius, the Falcons have a shot. The Bucs are probably a year or two away, but the rapid development of Jameis Winston should have everybody in the Big Sombrero very happy. If they can get Mike Evans back to his rookie numbers, the offense should be a good, especially with Doug Martin's resurgence. On defense, the Bucs have one of the best players that nobody knows in Lavonte David, who does nothing but be one of the best tacklers and all-around LB's in the league. They added Vernon Hargraeves (CB) and Noah Spence (DE/OLB) to help get TB over the hump, and Robert Aguayo (K) to help the special teams take the next step.
