How many strangers do you come across everyday? Do you ever get that little cosmic nudge to acknowledge some of them? Do you use people's names when you're able, maybe when they're wearing a nametag?

One of my biggest philosophies is you never know who you're talking to or what their aspirations are. Just because they may seem lowly at the time doesn't mean they're not destined for much bigger things or know bigger people. Take the time to meet and listen to them. My pal Rich Redmond made a great point in our documentary project, "Working The Dream":

"I make it a point to use and remember everyone's name when I'm on a recording session. It's music to their ears. Plus everyone wants to move up. Today's receptionist may become tomorrow's second engineer. Give them the best impression you can and they might champion you down the road!"

There couldn't be a better point made of this concept than with Sandy Gennaro.

Sandy aptly calls himself the "grateful drumma" for a myriad of reasons. His illustrious career allowed him to be behind a set of drums backing some of the most iconic artists of our generation. Here's a brief rundown:

Joan Jett and The Blackhearts

Cyndi Lauper

The Monkees

Pat Travers

Robin Gibb

and much more....

Sandy was with Cyndi Lauper when she was ruling the 80s...and that gig happened because he took the time to talk to someone backstage a few years prior.
