Iâ€™ve heard it said that the average teenager actually goes â€œdeafâ€ after hearing about five sentences from a parentâ€™s lecture.
If you have teens in the house, you probably know what Iâ€™m talking aboutâ€¦ that flinch in the shoulder, the eyes roll up into the skull â€¦as they turn and leave the room!
Hey, maybe you need a different approach.Â If your teen goes â€œdeafâ€ five sentences inâ€¦ learn to condense your message.Â Or, better yet, start with a question!
Yeah, I know you want to correct bad behavior, but five- point sermons arenâ€™t always effective.Â Let them learn the way you learnedâ€¦ through asking questions and sorting through the answer on their own.
When you change your approachâ€¦ you might be surprised what your teen decides to hear!
