THE FEELING OF BELONGING TO SOMEONE

The feeling of belonging to someone is so powerful because, don't forget it's a feeling and feelings are not necessarily right or wrong they just exist and we have to deal with them. When you meet someone you like  and I'm talking in a romantic sense, and as the days and weeks go by then you start to feel like I want her to mine or him to be mine that's the feeling of wanting to belong to someone and it just comes out of nowhere even though you set yourself up for it. I just pray and hope that when that happens to you that the other person that you have feelings for feels the same way as you do.

With that being said we have to be careful because there's so many different ways people look at belonging to someone and someone belonging to them.

Telling your beloved, "You belong to me," is common among lovers, but it is politically incorrect these days: Each of us is autonomous and should not belong to another person. Needless to say, no one literally belongs to anyone else. But can we speak about belonging in a psychological sense? I believe we can and should.

The term "belonging" has various meanings. Two major meanings are "possession" and "acceptance as a natural part." If belonging is taken in its literal sense of possession, then it is obviously wrong in a relationship, since possessing your partner implies ownership and control. However, if it is understood in the sense of being accepted as a natural part, it makes romantic sense.
