Fixated | Comedians and their obsessions

Comedian Nathaniel Metcalfe is fixated on Anthony Newley | Fixated Ep 6

November 20, 2014

Nathaniel Metcalfe is one of my favourite comedians. He's got a genuinely original and distinctive comedic voice and he is also the perfect guest for this podcast as he has a habit of being distracted by seemingly trivial things and then investigates them to a depth that few of us would. His debut show 'Enthusiast' is full of wonderfully niche observations told in an accessible and hilarious way, and can be seen in it's entirety on vimeo here.
Nat can currently be heard on James Acaster's Findings on BBC Radio 4, and Josh Widdicombe's xfm radio show, so clearly Fixated was a big step up for him.
In this episode Nathaniel talked to us about an oft-forgotten multi-talented media figure, Anthony Newley. We touch on all manner of subjects, from the Garbage Pail Kids movie, Deep Roy, Willa Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Ed Sheeran, Oliver Twist, Morrissey, David Bowie and what it means to be friends "in a Sixties way".
