Howard Jacobson and Josh LaJaunie: Obesity Autopsy

October 12, 2016

While you're at it, support the show, grab a book with Audible, or start shopping at Thrive Market.   Recently the BBC televised the autopsy of an obese woman called Obesity - The Post Mortem. Hope became aware of the obesity autopsy after reading an article claiming it to be fat shaming. Of course we had to take an opportunity to locate and view the autopsy to see how the show presented the data and how the issue of obesity was addressed. We were pleased to see that rather than shaming the person they provided evidence regarding excessive weight gain and internal organs. It was appalling to see how her weight affected nearly all of her organs including her liver and lungs. Dr. Howard Jacobson, who we've had on the show before, and Josh LaJaunie, formerly obese man turned ultra marathon runner, were gracious enough to chat with us about the obesity autopsy. They also discussed taking the steps and overcoming obstacles to get over our own physical hold ups and start hitting the pavement again. It's inspired Hope and I both to jump back on the wagon and we know it will push you to review your physical state and make a change today.
