261 – Grey

June 30, 2015

Booked reviews Grey by EL James. Yeah. That shit happened. Due to some lame peer pressure by the likes of Nik Korpon, we got saddled with the task of wading through 560 pages of crap. At least we got to drag our special guest host Brandon Tietz through the crap with us.

For those of you not in the know, Grey is the rewritten Fifty Shades of Grey, but from the perspective of Christian, instead of Ana. Has EL James evolved as a writer? Does writing the same exact story from a different perspective have any merit? How many times will the Booked. boys say the word "unnecessary?" listen and you'll find out.

Stick around after the review to hear us talk about a writer we do like: Brandon Tietz. We talk a bit about what he's got brewing, some live appearances with Chuck Palahniuk, and the creepy fact that he and Livius are like the same person.

Next episode begins our Lazy Summer of Podcasting. We're hanging up book reviews for a couple months, so expect us to bring on lots of guests and stuff in a desperate attempt to fill time. It's gonna be rough.

Until then, check out us talking on these other fine podcasts:
