The Axiom Amnesia Theory

Episode 124: Entertainmental

January 21, 2013

In our world, entertainment seems to trump all. We expect not only our entertainers to entertain, but also our thought leaders. In fact, we almost have these roles reversed–thought leaders entertaining and entertainers serving as thought leaders. But, what if we entertained things from a mental and intellectual perspective–call it entertainmental? On this episode of The Axiom Amnesia Theory, Heit & Cheri expose the lack of cerebral focus and basic critical thinking on relevant issues that’s causing so many of us to miss the point.

Topics discussed include Obama’s second inauguration, entertainment at the Super Bowl, Shawty Lo’s supposed arrest on child support charges, Sabrina Lamb’s motives in demanding cancellation of Shawty Lo’s reality show, argument that Second Amendment was to protect slavery and people should be pro gun control, Danny Glover’s statements on slavery and the Second Amendment, stupidity of people promoting entertainers to the level of thought leaders, MLK holiday and his speech “Beyond Vietnam”, and more!

Segment 1

  • Discussion about today’s inauguration of President Barack Obama’s second term in office.
  • Obama was actually officially sword into his second term in a quiet ceremony yesterday. Today’s inauguration is just for show:

  • Imagine all the money being spent on the inauguration–people going all the way to Washington to be a part of history.
  • Discussion about how people are concerned about what Michelle Obama is wearing at the different inauguration celebrations.
  • Discussion about how it’s a trend to take pics of yourself while trying on clothes in retail dressing rooms and then post them to social media. This is like posing next to a car that doesn’t belong to you and snapping a picture.
  • Discussion about how people think Obama will do all of the things that they made excuses for him not doing in his first term.
  • Discussion about people making excuses for Obama’s inaction in critical areas.
  • Discussion about how once the Black president (who isn’t the president of Black America) leaves office, people will pressure the new president to address Black issues–after not pressuring Obama to do so. The new president will be able to make the valid argument about why he/she should be expected to do what wasn’t demanded of Obama.
  • Discussion about the entertainment at the upcoming Super Bowl.
