ARTBA Newsline Podcast for March 15, 2019

March 15, 2019

The ARTBA Newsline Podcast for March 15 is hosted by ARTBA senior writer/editor, Eileen Houlihan.

ARTBA’s Project 2019 Reauthorization Task Force held its first meeting via conference call on March 13. Recent events on Capitol Hill – including this week’s House Highways & Transit Subcommittee hearing on reauthorization - have expedited the group’s schedule to develop a legislative blueprint for the next federal highway and public transit bill due in 2020.

Governors from Alabama and Arkansas have each signed transportation investment legislation that includes gas tax increases and that provide a combined $400 million in new annual funding for transportation infrastructure. At the same time the Washington Post, which endorsed a gas tax increase in a March 9 editorial, published a letter to the editor from ARTBA President and CEO Dave Bauer noting how states are leading the way at boosting transportation investment by raising or adjusting their gas taxes.

Applications for ARTBA Foundation’s 2019 Industry Leader Development Program are due by April 1. The “101” introduction to federal and state advocacy for transportation infrastructure market development and protection will be held May 13-15 in the Nation’s Capital. Contact ARTBA’s Nick Goldstein for more information.
