This podcast is based on a thought that occurred to me a couple nights ago and it's been stirring about in my head. I'm sure it doesn't hold up under close scrutiny. I'm sure ppl who actually believe in this stuff have all kinds of Quran quotes or apologetix or other sleight of hand that makes all t... |

Ed’s Day |
|
A year ago I started this project with a cute piece about this being Groundhog Day. I guess you could say ZachsCast is now one year old. Today, although some are expecting me to do an audio podcast about PZ Myers (a biologist whom I respect as a professor and a human being but also happen to respectfully disagree with on many things) but I’m gonna save that for tonight at Synesthesia’s BlogTalkRadio podcast. I might do a follow up later in the week here. Haven’t decided yet. Instead, I happened upon this. About a year ago (in the recording I think I say two but that’s cuz I can’t count) my brother-in-law Ed passed away. I had written down how I felt and what I thought about his passing. The intention was to record it for this project but I either set it aside thinking I’d do it later, or as it turns out perhaps I was too close to it at the time to successfully record it. I barely got through it this time, but get through it I did, and with only some restrained editing on my part, here’s the end result. Death is not something I necessarily fear. It’s not exactly something I celebrate either. It is however a natural part of life and each of us deal with it in our own way. I dedicate this ZachsCast to my sister TC, her family, and everyone whose lives were touched by Ed, a funny man with asthma who once carried my sister on his bike and got her home when there was no other way to safely do so. It wasn’t easy. But he did it. As a preteen at the time I figured that meant he loved her. If he loved my sister, that made him family. And I was right. |

Since President Barack Obama is taking the time this evening to review the state of the union known as the United States of America, I thought I'd take this opportunity to give an assessment of this website. Admittedly, the picture is not as clear as I might like it to be. In fact the future of this... |

Over at Twitter, John Rezas (http://twitter.com/john_rezas) brought to my attention a page over at Soul Pancake to which he thought I should respond. A guy named Rainn Wilson (http://www.soulpancake.com/post/1230/prove-the-nonexistence-of-god.html) cha... |

(sung to the tune of Eric Clapton's Tears In Heaven (http://youtu.be/0AOBJWTyizA). This is a satiric parody, and no copyright infringement was intended nor should be inferred. Bad taste may be inferred. Tragedy plus time does not always equal comedy. Close cover before striking. The Earth is flat.)... |

Is There A Santa Claus? |

This is an oldie but a goodie. Available in several places on the Web, JYI Resources (http://www.jyi.org/resources/humor/santa.html) as just one of many examples, there's a great piece I've seen on the Internet for years. I don't know who originally wrote it. That's been lost in the sands of time, b... |
