No rewards come at a cheap price. But my 15 minute a day marketing plan will work if you are insistent on working it.

Poorman's Guide to Internet Marketing
As I mentioned in the pre-podcast announcement all you need is a mobile phone that sends pictures, twitter account, facebook acoount, your own blog and ideally your own web site.
Your blog and web site need to have links to follow you or your business on twitter and facebook. You put them there to farm those interested in your information and from a local approach to farm your future prospects
Twitter Basics
Twitter is often misunderstood it can be either used to push or pull information and you will find both useful. Both a personal and a company name twitter account are recommended.
In your messages be polite-
1. Be polite
2. Make friends
3. Start conversations
4. Ask questions
5. Answer questions
Examples of pushing information in our industry, on a personal twitter account,
1. interesting photos you have taken on the job example:
2. Ask a question "have you ever been this close to a snake, raccoon, bat etc.? http://twitpic/abcdef
3. Answer a Question " I have had bats up in my attic for over 2 years, should I be concerned?
Your answer can point to a blog page wrote to answer the question or a specific part of your web site that has the information, or point to another authoritative site like cdc.gov (specific page)
4. Start conversations- write about things going on locally.
Good example Tom Herrmann in NYC took the day off recently and wrote he helped escort the Portable Vietnam Memorial exhibit coming into his area.
Link to articles you enjoyed or found interesting while reading on the net. Use a hyperlink in your message.
5. Make friends by showing interest in posts by other followers this can be done either as a reply or a retweet. The retweet is one great way of showing interest and passing their info along to even your own followers which in most cases are even a different subset of followers.
6. Never spam using your personal account. We all hate spam email and a good way to lose followers is to blatantly burst several messages all at once or only post things of the nature of spamming. The company twitter account is better suited for some of this activity and is more for info to be found by a user in a twitter search.
Putting it all together.
1. Time management is very important and I recommend the following tools to keep it at a minimum.
a. Use the twitter/facebook browser at tweetdeck.com. It like twitter is a little hard to explain other then imagine a deck of cards all faceup on a table or desk this is how you can quickly scan recent messages from twitter and facebook followers. It allows you to upload pictures using tweetpic in your message, it allows you to seamlesslesy retweet someone else's message and several other useful uses.
b. Use http://twitterlocal.net to create a marketing farm in your area for followers. This can be set within so many miles of any city and help to quickly find other users who have posted recently in your own geographical area. Add all of them or those you feel may be in your target demographic as followers. A percentage of them will also add you thus win-win the goal is not to have to read everything they post but to farm your local and start a following.
c. You can use http://twtqpon.com and a ready made graphic to upload to your coupon. This can be either used for your company account using keywords for others to find the coupon in a search or in your personal account when responding to a question or even asking one?
Example: I did one for Anytime Animal Control in Wisconsin and California
10% Off California & Wisconsin Animal Removals @ http://twtqpon.com/vb5bc2 #twtqpon
d. Register your business on the Twitter Yellow Pages http://www.twellow.com/
2. I mentioned twitter can be used to pull information too. Use twitter search and develop some useful searches and svee them that way you can quickly do these searches and pull any info you may need to add a follower or reweet or create your own content. |
