NEW MIX - TALIESIN “VIRTUAL LIGHT” |
|
![]() Walk Into the Light Summer is officially slowing and the transition into Fall is being greeted by new peacoats and sweaters. But if threads aren’t really your thing, perhaps the heaviness of Taliesin’s bass weaving is enough to warm body and soul. Featured here on Trash Menagerie earlier this Summer with his Sasha Frere Jones’ acclaimed “BassBinShit”, Taliesin of the Dutty Artz crew is back to give us another taste. If the New Yorker Pop Music critic isn’t stamp enough, the Dutty Artz family is a family worth knowing. As label and blog, Dutty Artz is a encyclopedia of urban music at home and abroad. Lead by Fader contributor Jace Clayton (DJ/Rupture) Dutty Artz will be a collective worth keeping an eye on. But before that, settle into Rupture’s right hand man Taliesin for a lesson on bass. As quoted on the Dutty Artz website, Taliesin has “A scientists attention for detail and a painterly view towards the decks, putting Taliesin at the forefront of a new generation of DJs obsessed with exploring new sonic possibilities in turntable based performance.” Much like his first mix, Taliesin takes you on a journey as thought provoking as any musician. And all I have to say is, get your online streaming recorders out because you won’t find the first track anywhere. So get Bassed. Equally worth attention, is Rupture’s upcoming mix Uproot, a toure de force in what’s hot on the world’s streets. Featured here on Pitchfork, the album will feature 23 tracks from places like Brazil, Australia, London, Morocco, and Finland. Pick it up on all your favorite online music sources in early October.
