HP Z1 G2 All-In-One Workstations for Powerful Editing

April 18, 2015

While at NAB 2015, I checked out the powerful Z desktops and the Z1 G2 All-in-one workstation. This is a 27-inch touchscreen all-in-one. Inside is an Intel - i3,i5, i7 or Xeon E3 processor - DDR3 non-ECC RAM at 1866 MHz, Intel or NVidia graphics and more.

The HP Z1 G2 is easy to open to fix or replace parts. Simply slide it down, and open the top up from the latches in the front. The hydraulic arms keep the unit from crashing down. Green tabs show you where you unlock-and-pull to take out hard drives, memory, fans, and more.

Other features include an internal USB for wireless mice or any special dongles that need to be locked up. Speaking of locks, a Kensington lock option not only keeps the workstation on the desk, but also prevents unauthorized users from opening the chassis.

Prices for the Z1 G2 start at $1,999, however, you might want to splurge for the i7 or above models if you are creating video or running 24 track or more recordings.
