Immediately following a 9/9/1992 automobile accident, two weeks of life support and a month-long coma put Mark Elswick’s very existence in jeopardy. A fractured skull, broken orbital ring, and a broken shin (snapped in half) were just some of the signs that proved to be minor setbacks compared to the relatively unfamiliar injury–at that time–which threatened his life and nearly stole his independence, a traumatic brain injury (TBI).  Mark talks to Gina about his survival and success in a truly motivating story.

Today, his words and story have turned into a tremendously motivating example of, “If you can dream it, you can do it,” applicable to any of life’s scenarios. Despite numerous obstacles along the way, the 42-year old has continually overcome those physical, emotional, neurological, and financial hurdles to arrive as an author, available worldwide. His words have moved listeners through the full range of emotions, from laughter, to tears, and back to laugher.
Unsurprisingly, Elswick’s first book, Padman: A Dad’s Guide to Buying … Those and Other Tales, was labeled “edutaining” by Joseph Yurt of Reader Views. However, as listeners will attest, his enthusiastic presentation is even more representational of the newly-formed word.
