Welcome to the Simon Sez IT Tech Show #24. During this podcast, we’ll continue with our discussion of  some cool Windows 7 features that rarely get used.

Some of the Windows 7 features discussed during this podcast:

  • Monitor Calibration Tool
  • Virtual WiFi - To enable Virtual WiFi on your Windows 7 PC:1. Run the command prompt as an Administrator by clicking the Start button, typing cmd on the Search field, right-clicking the CMD link, and selecting “Run as Administrator.”
    2. On the command prompt type:

    netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=[hotspotName] key=[password]

You may change the ssid value to your liking. As for the password, make sure it is something secure yet easy to remember. When everything is typed in, press Enter.

    3. Still on the command prompt type:

    netsh wlan start hostednetwork

and press Enter to initiate the virtual adapter.

    4. Moving away from the command prompt, go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings
    5. Right-click your Internet connection and select Properties.
    6. Click the Sharing tab.
    7. Enable “Allow other network users to connect…”,
    8. Select your virtual Wi-Fi adapter.
