BadGalsRadio was surprised to learn that the poc in the recording industry in the US are boycotting this years Grammy Awards. This seems to be a knee jerk reaction to the Grammys boycotting them in 2012.  Yeah..

Apparently the Grammys are eliminating the categories which are predominated by Artists Of Color.

This is absolutely a move to shore up the ranks of floundering record giants; against the recent spate of wins by Artists of Color.  These Artists are mostly managed and represented  lately by small Indy companies, who are not afraid to take a chance.

Do You remember the fights last year between Nas and Lupe Fiascos’ fans and the record companies to get their old product released ?

Media in the US is so screwed in so many ways, but this just takes the cake. Even Beyonce is effected in this move since she has won in the Top R&B category most. So far there is really no real acceptable explanation coming from the RIA;  but we expect that they will blame it on budget and or Yeezie.

The fact that they’d think anyone would believe that crock should be enough for the rest of the US viewing audience to ignore it’s broadcast. let the media Goliaths battle it out for the ad dollars without the most enjoyable of the presentations.  yes this made mad dough for MTV – cause it was Kanye West.

Hopefully Ye will win as Top Pop Male Single this year and send them over the edge. this is what the new generation of media moguls needs to see; in order to realize where they still need to firm up their networks.

In BadGalsRadios’ Humble Opinion, There is absolutely no reason that the R&B awards shows should be including anyone Not R&B, Hip-Hop, or Rap Oriented. That’s what sells and it should be honored for being popular.

As well they should be working on getting their ad budgets in-line with a major network time-slot purchase. This is the only way that this generation of entertainers and industry executives will show that they have the strings of their career ropes firmly in hand.

Between Def Jam and the other niche labels, there is enough music being released and selling to establish a whole new awards show credibility.  the grammys are fast becoming something that most artists won’t ever be nominated for. even if they sell platinum CD numbers.  look at TI .. yeah.

This is from tonight’s’ News-One. It truly brings it all to a simmer,

R&B Community Protests Grammy Awards

The Recording Academy announced two months ago that at least 30 categories will be either eliminated or modified at next year’s Grammy Awards.

Some of those eliminations will be five R&B categories including Best R&B Female, Best R&B Male, Best Urban Alternative Performance, Best Contemporary R&B Album, and Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal.

Many members of the urban music community are angered by the Academy’s decision.

Music industry notables such as Beyonce’s dad and former manager Matthew Knowles, singers Musiq Soulchild and Betty Wright, among others, have joined an effort to persuade the Academy to reinstate those R&B categories. Simultaneously, other established artists, community leaders, record executives, and radio and TV personalities will voice their concerns at Recording Academy chapters nationwide.

The goal of the protest is to also bring spotlight on the declining recognition of R&B, Funk, Soul music on the mainstream scale. This month, the music community issued a formal statement of protest to The Recording Academy offices in Atlanta, Santa Monica, D.C., Philly, Chicago and New York.

Though the urban music community is agitated with the Academy, it contends that it respects the organization and encourages all to support it, and that its issue is solely with the awards process of the company.

Grammy’s Cut Hip-Hop And R&B Categories For 2012

Now lets just watch this simmer until January when the shit starts to hit the fan. there’s’ no doubt in my mind that with Bey; Ye and Jay; all dropping hits this summer. They will be getting awards this winter.  and what of the 200 Lil Weezie’s’ and Nicki Minaj’s ?  Do they really think this is gonna play in 2012  ?

to paraphrase Ye – “YO RIA Sorry Imma let you finish, butterrah Soul Train has one of the best real awards shows all the time..”

so lets just see how long it takes them to figure out that they can’t do an awards show without Real Entertainers.  Now Somebody Run Tell the Academy that I am available to accept my award for Truth Slayer of the Year.

Yeah.. I’ll be the one holding Yeezie and Weezie’s Yac,
