Your feet are the windows to your style – show off your sneakers! |
|
If your eyes are the windows to your soul, then your feet are definitely the windows to your style, and the creative self-expression that people get up with with their footwear is being shown off at Foot Locker’s www.itsasneakerthing.eu The Foot Locker www.itsasneakerthing.eu site is being hailed as a ‘hub for passionate people to come and share their passion for sneakers!’, but its also a chance to take a look at the individuality and creativity on show that turn a pair of ‘sneakers’ into a footwear statement. Having comfortable and cool feet should be a daily mantra, but sometimes that bit of personal expression fly in the face of the button-down corporate world. As someone who once won a not-inconsiderable bet with an advertising account executive about wearing sneakers to work, my heart does go out to poor Adam Smith, who found himself facing an office dressing down because of foot attire (but then, us kooky creatives can get away with stuff those in other jobs just can’t). While Adam (Arsenal fan) has kicked off the corporate dirt from his Air Jordans, he’s been getting busy with his creative side (that’s one of his pictures at the top of the page), to some glowing reports (geddit). But if his new creative career doesn’t quite pay off, he may well be living in his shoes. A theme taken up by fine artist Danielle in a little movie I uncovered on the itsasneakerthing site. It turns out Danielle was one of the three artists commissioned by the Foot Locker Art Prize to inspire other entrants. The artist create sample artworks and the Foot Locker film people get a behind-the-scenes look at their process in a hope that it will encourage everyone to think outside the lines. Daneille took the idea of the Old Lady Who Live in the Shoe. Pop along to the site to find other inspiring artists. The sneaker inspiration just seems to get passed on. Sneaker Adam, our own nickname, has warmed the heart of lace artist, or should that be artist of laces, Nico Roux. Take a look at some of his images and his movie. To get inspired yourself, and to show off some of your own creations and sneaker interpretations go to itsasneakerthing, and join their Facebook page. And to check out how Adam’s doing, follow him on Facebook, too. Also, check out the Foot Locker for the sneakers you can use to express yourself.
