Katie Marie is in Frankfurt at the Muskimesse and is having an excellent time demonstrating her skills on The Logarhythm stand

Guten Tag peeps! Yep I made it to Frankfurt und alles ist gut. It was a bit of a mission to get here ( to say the least) as I had to do my usual five hour drive to Stansted at stupid o’clock in the morning (grrr).

We left Devon at midnight on Tuesday morning and arrived at Stansted Airport at 5am. On this occasion we were flying with Ryanair and our flight left at 7am.

A slightly surreal experience I have to say (due to the weird on board announcements about selling scratch cards and also a little fan fare when the plane actually landed… very odd lol) but overall it was a smooth journey with no hiccups (which doesn’t happen very often!).

We landed on the outskirts of Frankfurt (in Frankfurt Hahn) and had to catch a coach to Frankfurt main where our hotel was. The trip lasted for about two hours and there was lots of lovely scenic views to take in. We eventually arrived at Frankfurt Main and had the rather daunting task of sussing out how on earth the tram system worked… or more confusing was how on earth does the ticket machine work lol. After lots of unhelpful advice from the rather scary tourist information lady we eventually sussed it and an hour after that we found our hotel – horrah!

Our hotel is pretty cool. It’s simplistic but has everything we need and the owners are really helpful and friendly. There’s a very nice take away just down the road and also a pizza place which has a real bunch of characters working there. Next door to our hotel however is a rather dodgy looking Thai massage parlour… what ever floats your boat I suppose!

The firest day of the show went well, although I think it’s fare to say I really had no idea just how massive the Messe in Frankfurt is – it’s *huge* lol. There are six halls in total and they all have subsections (like 6.1, 6.2 etc) and there’s a massive marquee set up outside where they’ve got concerts happening all through the day and night. I’d say that just one of the halls here is about the size of the Birmingham NEC music shows.

We’re in the Acoustic hall and Schlagwerk have lent me a very nifty cajon to demo with The Logarhythm (yay!). Chris and I have really enjoyed playing and we’ve not only been playing our own acoustic sets just also jamming together with Chris on guitar and me on cajon & stomp box. In a way it’s a bit like busking, people are walking through all the time, some stop, others keep moving, sometimes you get a crowd. Either way it’s all been oodles of fun.

We were also asked to go and play on the Schlagwerk stand today, here’s a little vid Giles filmed of me and Mr Chris jamming away. Notice how we seem to telepathically start at the same time!

It’s defiantly safe to say I had oodles more energy today than day one of the show… by the end of it I was seriously knackered… and Giles decided to be a big meany and provide photographic evidence of how tired I was:

So two more days left to go, can’t wait!
