This episode was recorded live at Wizard World New Orleans this past weekend. I, Leo, shared a table with Charles from Stacks of Comics and we recorded a joint episode. The episode is comprised of four different pieces recorded over the course of the weekend. Topics of discussion include Thick Rogue, Chew #30, Comics, Ben Bender drawing The Maxx, a Rob Guillory interview, and we meet Rob's coloring assistant. Background was constantly going on at the con, so you get a soundtrack for the show. Enjoy!
Part 1 (Start): Saturday, Dec 1: We start off the podcast and give a little update on what has been going on at the con so far. Charles does a terrible sketch for a girl dressed as Deadpool and makes her cry with joy. Once they get something going on at the Artist Lounge, Charles and I walk around the room and take in the sites.
Part 2 (42 minutes): Saturday, Dec 1: After an intermission, we start the show back up and Charles does another terrible sketch. We sit down and discuss Chew 30 and how much we love Chew, and more.
Part 3 (1:17): Sunday, Dec 2: We start off the day with a review of The Book of Pages, a comic given to me by what we can only assume was a hobo. As terrifying as that sounds, the comic, a photocopied, hand-stapled masterpiece, is one of the greatest things ever made. I think I give it a 13/10 and Charles gives it a 5/5.
Part 4 (1:41): Sunday, Dec 2: WARNING: SPOILER We sit down with Rob Guillory, artist of Chew, to discuss the most recent issue, Chew 30. As a halfway point, it had some pretty big changes in store. We chat with Rob about Twitter, super fans, and much more. At about 1:53, Rob's coloring assistant Taylor Wells joins us and talks a little about how it is working with Rob and working on Chew.
This is episode is a lot of fun, so check it out!
