October 14, 2013

Guy Davis can tell you stories of his great-grandparents and his grandparents, they're days as track linemen, and of their interactions with the infamous KKK. He can also tell you that as a child raised in middle-class New York suburbs, the only cotton he's picked is his underwear up off the floor. He's a musician, composer, actor, director, and writer. Guy performed Off-Broadway as legendary blues player Robert Johnson in "Robert Johnson: Trick the Devil". He received rave reviews and became the 1993 winner of the Blues Foundation's "Keeping the Blues Alive Award†I will chat with Guy as we check out his new album, Juba Dance, Featuring Fabrizio Poggi, which released in September. Smokin Joe Kubek was raised in Irving, Texas, and while still a teenager was playing guitar in the band of the original Texas Cannonball, Freddie King. He played with his own band and also performed behind some of the legends during the 70's and 80's. With 15 albums and an instructional DVD to his name, he and his long-time partner, Bnois King have just released album 16, Road Dogs Life. I will chat with Joe about his career as we will check out the new album. Sean Chambers originally Sat On The Couch back in December of 2011. He returns this evening with his brand new album, The Rock House Sessions which releases TOMORROW, so come by and hear it first right here!
