Beat Back Buffelgrass

January 09, 2013

Lindy Brigham, Ph.D.

Executive Director, Southern Arizona Buffelgrass Coordination Center

Claire Zucker

Director of Sustainable Environment, Pima Association of Governments

Pima Association of Governments (PAG) joined over 800 volunteers last January to help remove buffelgrass at 22 sites around the Tucson basin. They put in 2,214 hours to collect 1,597 bags of buffelgrass. Listen and learn how you can help fight against this growing environmental problem, including joining us at this year’s Beat Back Buffelgrass Day on January 26.

Buffelgrass invasion is threatening to transform the mostly fireproof and diverse Sonoran Desert into a flammable and impoverished savanna, affecting both natural and urban areas. PAG actively contributes by volunteering and serving on the Southern Arizona Buffelgrass Coordination Center (SABCC) Executive Board.
