Hello everyone this is Michelle from The Portable Gamer with your iCasual report for Tumbles from Manfred Nerurkar for all devices running current iOS software. Tumbles is an updated version of the classic puzzle game where you need to remove all the pieces on a board by tapping on them. 2 or more of the same colored bubbles will pop and single ones will require a zapper that are in limited supply. You get points for every bubble you remove along with bonuses but as time ticks by you also lose points, so be quick. Bubbles start out to be just plain colored but as you progress you get striped ones that change color depending on how many stripes they have, rainbow bubbles that will match anything they touch, and bad bubbles that won’t pop unless they are touching a rainbow. What’s really unique about this game is gravity. You can turn your device around in order to make more matches. This is obviously easier on a smaller device but was still fun to play on my iPad.
There are 5 different game modes to keep you interested in this simple game. Classic is straight forward boards you need to clear to move on, blitz gives you 60 seconds to match as many as you can and challenge mode just keeps dropping bubbles and you need to race to keep up. The last 2 modes require a friend, versus mode is 2 players on the same device and multiplayer can be played over bluetooth. When you’re playing with a friend you can send your opponent a bad bubble if you pop 5 or more bubbles at the same time, that will earn you a rainbow bubble, so you so you can really get ruthless if you try.
Tumbles is an easy to pick up and play game for any age. Their free light version will give you a taste but there is no universal paid version. You need to choose if you want the iphone version or the HD version both at $1.99 each. Since I have multiple devices I choose the iPhone version and haven’t been disappointed. The sound track is upbeat but can be turned off in favor of your own tunes. The game is also game center and plus enabled to keep your high scores. If you like the classic puzzle game that won’t take you forever to play tumbles is perfect fit.
