As parents, you and I want to give our kids everything, don’t we?

We want to lavish our children with good things.  But I’m finding a generation of teens who expect over-the-top generosity.  They have a sense of entitlement that blinds them to the fact that behind every gift is a gesture of sacrifice and generosity.

And this has spiritual implications, too.  In a world where teens feel like they deserve everything, the message of grace… of God’s free gift… is lost.

Mom, dad, I challenge you to rethink your approach.  We need to stop giving in… and help our children to understand healthy adult responses —ones that don’t require demands and entitlement issues.  When you do… you’ll instill a deep sense of gratitude in your child.
