SHOW NOTES FOR EPISODE 083

Tutorial Part of the Show:

Log Your Visit

Types of Logs for a geocache

Found It

Didn’t Find It (DNF)

Write Note

Needs Archive – Will talk in a minute…

Need Maintenance

Archiving – What is it and why?

Archive Definition from geocaching.com

“Archiving a cache removes the listing from public view on Geocaching.com. This action is usually taken when a cache owner does not intend to replace a cache after it has been removed. As an alternative to archiving, the cache owner can temporarily disable their cache if they plan to provide maintenance on the cache or replace the container within one month.â€

Issues with Archiving – geocachers leaving the game, leaving the area – basically leaving geolitter…

Concept from Podcacher Podcast having geocachers earn archive points.

Too many new geocachers flagging geocaches “Need To Archive†mainly because of their inexperience.

We should make our own log type…

For Example,

maint – You need to fix ur stuff…

dnf – Could not find, left brains in car…

found it – Yee haw, I found it and you didn’t – nanner nanner!

maint – It’s in pieces and chewed up…

archive – It’s geolitter and nobody’s would touch it with a stick..
