GBPC Ep. 28 - A Mystery of Violence

February 12, 2013

Video games are too violent… At least that’s the word going around Fox News and Capitol Hill these days. Video games have come under a firestorm of scrutiny as of late in the wake of tragic, real-life acts of violence and we here at the Game-Boat hope to explore why. Why are video games so easily brought into the discussion of gun violence? What can gaming do to prevent itself from being a scapegoat? Why do so many of the top-selling games of this generation revolve around killing? Why are games more susceptible to this criticism than other media? We can’t promise answers to these questions, but we promise one hell of a discussion that hopefully will have you pondering these questions on your own. Plus, Sony announces a possible glimpse into their future, a gaming industry icon finds himself out of a job and what has Ubisoft done to invoke the wrath of literally dozens of Wii U owners?
