Eye on Books

If he could, 15-year-old Peregrine “Perry” Eckert would dedicate every waking moment to “Creatures & Caverns,” an epic role-playing game. That’s the world in which Perry feels most comfortable.

But in Ned Vizzini‘s novel “The Other Normals,” Perry’s parents, concerned their son lacks social skills, ship him off to summer camp to become a man.

Then everything changes when Perry gets to camp and stumbles into the World of the Other Normals, and meets one of the creators of Creatures & Caverns, as well as some mythical creatures from the game.
