Day in Washington - Home of the Disability Policy Podcast

Okay, the second part of that statement is from me personally. But I think it would be fantastic to see a White House intern with a disability. The White House Internship Program’s summer 2011 application has been posted. This really is a Public Service Leadership Program and an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed. I would challenge Day in Washington readers and listeners to apply and to pass this announcement on to others, and encourage young people with disabilities to apply.

IMPORTANT DETAILS
- The deadline to apply is January 9, 2011.
- The summer White House internship is full-time (aprox. 9am to 6pm Mon. thru Fri.) and unpaid.
- The term runs from May 31, 2011 to August 12, 2011.

ELIGIBILITY
- You must be a United States citizen, at least 18 years old and:
+ currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college or university OR graduated in the past two years from
undergraduate or graduate program at a college, community college or university
OR
+ a veteran of the United States Armed Forces with a high school diploma or GED and has served on active duty in the last two years.

APPLICATION
- A completed application packet includes two essays (300-500 words), a 1-page resume and 3 letters of recommendation.
