Deep Brain Diary

In about 20 minutes Gail and I will head to the hospital for a modified barium swallowing study.  This is what it looks like.  (NOTE:  This is NOT my study… I’m told, however, that I will be provided with a copy of the film, so watch for it this afternoon!)

It’s really quite the simple thing.  If I’m leaking food into my trachea, this will spot it.  If liquid is sneaking past my epiglottis, this will show it.  If my swallowing reflexes are impaired, this will detect it.  If everything’s OK, this will reveal that as well.
