Tell us a little about yourself:
I have been working from home for almost 2 years now. I began working remotely for my employer when I was about 3 months pregnant, and I’m glad I got the chance to start testing it out before I had a little one to watch 24/7!

I’ve been writing for over 10 years now and have been working for my employer (doing web design) for 4 years now. Finding time to work (about 25-28 hours a week), write, take care of the house, and all while watching over my husband’s and my little boy has proven extremely challenging.

We live in California and I am currently marketing my first published novel, Treachery at Martinique Isle and preparing to work on publishing its sequel!

As a work at home parent what is your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge of working from home, I would say, is keeping my priorities in check. While writing and getting my work done is very, very important to me, my baby should come first. Overall, having an ounce of time to myself at this stage (with him being less than 2 years old) is pretty much impossible. It is much easier to work with the needs of the little one than trying to get him to bend to my wants.

What is the biggest advantage to being a work at home parent?
The biggest advantage of staying at home is that I know exactly what’s going on with my baby. I know what he’s eating, how much he’s sleeping, what he’s learning, what he’s doing – everything. I feel this allows me to be a better parent because I am more in tune with him and his development.

As a work at home parent what advice would you give other work at home parents?
Be patient! I can’t speak as a parent of more than one child or a parent with a kid over the age of 2, but I can definitely vouch for the fact that patience is a virtue that will NEVER go out of style!
