Jefferson Smith announced he was running for Mayor of Portland yesterday. Today he’s on the show. This is no small feat, considering he was working so hard on his campaign that he forgot to take his contacts out, they fused to his cornea, and he damn near tore his eyes off removing them. But he’s not gonna let that prevent him from sharing a studio w/ Courtenay Hameister and giving an in-depth talk about his candidacy, answering questions concerning: How much of his campaign will focus on Job Creation – not just how much, but what KIND of economy growth will he pursue? How important is the creative class to Portland’s future? Gun control, bipartisan compromise and how he plans to walk the tightrope called political integrity. The weird cultural split between Portland and everything east of 82nd Ave is discussed, and how his history with The Bus Project will affect his campaign finance planning. Being that he’s Jefferson Smith, about 200 other subjects are brought up as well – so sit back, and soak in an hourlong conversation with one of Portland’s most promising politicians.
