Discussion w/ Profiler Roy Hazelwood - Feb 24,2012 |
|
Former FBI agent and profiler of sex crimes, Roy Hazelwood, is generally regarded as the pioneer of profiling sexual predators. It is his concept of the distinction between “organized” and “disorganized” murderers that is used today by law enforcement to apprehend criminals. He has interviewed incarcerated sexual offenders responsible for over 800 rapes. Hazelwood also defined the six categories of rapists: (power-reassurance, power assertive, anger retaliatory, anger excitation, opportunistic and gang). He has conducted a number of studies on sex crimes, heavily focusing on sexual sadism and autoerotic asphyxiation. In his career, he found equivocal death crime as the most dubious and complex investigation to overcome. Having consulted on cases of homicide, equivocal death, autoerotic fatalities, rape, child abduction and molestation, Mr. Hazelwood is an expert witness and an internationally recognized speaker on violent crimes. He is currently a member of the Academy Group, a forensic behavioral science company, which consists of former FBI agents and law enforcement officers, working in an effort to track down sexually-oriented murderers. He has published over 40 journal articles and has coauthored five books.Profiling ![]() | serial killer![]() | Crime![]() | Law Enforcement![]() | Sexual Deviance![]() ![]() |
