Let's talk about this notion of waiting to fake like you give a damn about the terrible things happening in the world. First, you find yourself waiting, because nobody else seems to care about things that don't affect them or "their kind" directly. But what are you waiting for? Do you really give a damn about what you think others should care about, or does it just SOUND GOOD to say you care? The reality is that most of us are faking like we care--dropping crocodile tears as long as the media coverage is wall-to-wall (or it's a viral video or photo), but as soon as that wanes, so does our motivation for change. On this episode of The Axiom Amnesia Theory, Heit & Cheri challenge you to be honest with yourself about how you really feel. Topics discussed include The Axiom Amnesia Theory's 100th episode, CT school shooting and race, only caring about "your kind", teaching by example, whether people really care or they like that it sounds good to say they do, religions advancing the notion of a "chosen people", Mike Huckabee suggesting that taking God out of schools was responsible for the CT school shooting, parents' responsibility in the actions of their child, effects of bullying on the individual child, having a continued dialogue on atrocities, and more!
